When you’re ready to get your car looking and smelling like new, we’ll teach you everything you need to know about spring cleaning your car—and keeping it fresh all year round! Start with our tips for cleaning the interior, then follow along as we walk you through cleaning the exterior of your vehicle. There’s really no reason to drive around in a messy car all year long! Here’s how to spring clean your car and keep it tidy all year round.

Vacuum Every Inch of Your Car

  1. Start by vacuuming the car to get rid of all the crumbs, pet hair, leaves, and other debris that you can find.
  2. Spray your car with water to remove any dirt or grime that might be caked on (especially in the nooks and crannies).
  3. Use a microfiber towel to dry off your car so you don’t scratch any surfaces.
  4. Wipe down the inside of the car and make sure to get into all of those hard-to-reach places like under the seats, between armrests, and door pockets.
  5. Vacuum up dust bunnies around vents, seat belts, windshield wipers etcetera before they pile up into an ugly mess.
  6. Take out mats/ floor mats and vacuum them separately as they pick up more than you may realize from just sitting in your vehicle!

Shampoo the Upholstery and Carpets

To start, remove any loose dirt or debris by vacuuming the carpets and upholstery. Fill up your steamgrønt with water, add in some car shampoo, then set it on the highest setting. The carpets should be steamed until they’re damp to ensure that all of the stubborn dirt is removed. Next, use the steamgrønt to clean off any dirty spots you may have missed with your vacuum cleaner. Now that the upholstery has been thoroughly cleaned, it’s time to wash the windows!

Wash the Windows and Mirrors

You’ll need to wash the windows and mirrors of your car with water, soap, and a sponge. When you’re done, use your steamgrønt to dry them off. Use the steamer to clean any hard-to-reach areas such as the dashboard or cup holders. Now it’s time for some interior cleaning! The first thing you should do is vacuum the mats in your car; this will get rid of any loose dirt that might have spilled onto them while you were cleaning outside. Next, you’ll want to tackle those cobwebs on your ceiling with a soft brush attachment—but be careful not to scratch up your paint while you’re up there! (Indvendig rengøring af bil)

Dust Dashboard, Vents, and Knobs

First, remove the dashboard cover by pulling the tabs that are located on either side of the top part of the dashboard. Then, use a dust cloth to wipe down all of the surfaces that can be reached from this vantage point. Use your vacuum cleaner to clean out any leftover dust or debris from around vents and knobs. Finally, replace the dashboard cover by lining it up with tabs at either side again before pushing it back into place.

Wipe Down Hard Surfaces

Since your car is a space that is not often cleaned, it can quickly become cluttered with dirt and debris. In order to make your car feel new again, you should start by wiping down the hard surfaces in your vehicle. This includes the dashboard, door panels, center console, armrests, cup holders and so on.

You can also use vacuum cleaner attachments to suck up any dust or crumbs underneath the seats or carpets in your car. You may want to invest in small bins to store items such as chargers and other cables so they are easy to find when needed. It’s also important to remember that no matter how clean you keep your interior surfaces of the car, bugs will inevitably make their way inside because of open windows or doors.

Organize the Glove Compartment, Center Console, and Trunk
  • Take out old receipts, old food wrappers, and other clutter.
  • Empty out the glove compartment and clean it with soap and water.
  • Empty out the center console, if possible.
  • Clean the trunk of anything that is stored back there (such as an emergency kit).
Remove Garbage and Clutter

If your vehicle has carpets, vacuum them thoroughly to remove any dirt or dust that’s accumulated over time. If there are stains, use carpet cleaner to get them out before vacuuming the carpet. If your vehicle doesn’t have carpet, use a wet rag to wipe down the floors (including between seats) as well as seats and other surfaces to get rid of any dirt or grime that’s been left behind by passengers or spills over time.
